The Veterans Assistance Project supports Community Legal Aid's mission by ensuring those who served our country have access to the benefits and services they need to live in dignity with their service. Project staff support veterans and their families through holistic legal services, as well as collaborations for supportive services with local veterans treatment courts, VA hospitals, and veteran service commission offices.
How the Veterans ASSISTANCE Project works
We screen all applicants for eligibility. Veterans Administration (VA) eligibility is different than the eligibility requirements for our services. If you put on the uniform, you are eligible for our veterans team assistance.
Our advocates support veterans, service members, and their families in several ways:
- Provide direct one-on-one education, advice and counsel to veterans facing a variety of legal issues
- Partner with VA service offices and medical centers, county veterans service commissions, and local veterans resource organizations
- Outreach clinics and workshops within the veterans community
