Community Legal Aid is upgrading to a new case management system, Legal Server, this January, a process that will temporarily impact some services through the organization.

  • January 15 - the online application portal will be unavailable.
  • January 17 -  the HelpLine phone intake system will be closed and unable to accept new applications for service.
  • January 22 through 30 - Community Legal Aid’s offices in Akron, Canton, Warren, and Youngstown will be closed to the public for staff training.
  • January 31 - Community Legal Aid’s telephone intake system and offices reopen to the public.

Services to current clients will not be impacted during the transition. Current clients may continue to communicate with their attorney or advocate by telephone or email as usual. Current clients should not visit an office from January 22 through January 30 unless they have a scheduled appointment with a staff member.

Executive Director Steven McGarrity said the transition to Legal Server will have a significant positive impact on the nonprofit law firm’s ability to serve clients.

“This is a major initiative for us but one that will help us do our work more efficiently so we can better serve our clients,” he said. “Legal Server is designed to meet the needs of a modern Legal Aid office, including improved client communications, document management, measuring and reporting the impact of our work, and client data security.  We look forward to seeing the benefits to our organization and clients soon.”

McGarrity said Community Legal Aid will continue to update the public through its social media accounts and website if there are other impacts on services as a result of the transition.
